Integrative Medicine Retreat Woodsen Merrill, Frank Lipman, Robert A.F. Thurman, Lindsey and Bobby Clennell, Tashi Rabten Contemporary western medicine is effective for many problems, but ineffective for others. Integrative Medicine combines the best of Western Medicine with the best of alternative and complementary therapies. It integrates the knowledge we've gained from science with the wisdom of ancient healing traditions. Drs Merrell and Lipman, two leading practitioners of Integrative Medicine, and Robert Thurman and Tashi Rabten, strongly believe that it is the future of medicine, and that inclusive, compassionate, relationship-centered medical care must become the standard of practice for our currently problematical medical care delivery system to begin the path to healing. Together with 2 senior Iyengar yoga teachers, the Clennells, they will provide you with the knowledge and tools you need to take charge of your health. There will be a morning invigorating yoga class and late afternoon restorative yoga class taught by the Clennells. In between Drs Lipman, Merrell, Thurman, and Rabten will clear up confusions about different diets, review common supplements, explain the importance of detoxification and give you lips to add years to your life and life to your years. The program will help reverse the unhealthy habits and poor functioning that we can develop and take for granted over the course of our lives, replacing them with new behaviors that leave us stronger, healthier, and more resilient to illness.

Medicine Buddha Initiation and Retreat Venerable Gehlek Rinpoche assisted by Robert Thurman The Medicine Buddha is believed to be the mythic emanation that Buddhas manifest when they grace a planet with the integrative teaching of Buddhist medicine - the vision of the earth itself and everything on it as medicine. Tibetan physicians are initiated into the mandala of the Medicine Buddha, and learn to practice the visualization and realization meditations it makes possible, in order to channel the Medicine Buddha's Wisdom and Compassion into their work of healing suffering beings. NEW PROGRAM

Awakening Love & Wisdom: a Dharma Retreat
Sharon Salzberg and Robert Thurman In times of uncertainty and change, we can draw on some practical tools to help us move beyond constricting habitual patterns such as fear, denial and despair. Awakening the inner capacities for love and compassion that we all have, we learn to transform our worldview from one of isolation and confusion to one of connection and clarity. We can open to a power of faith and courage based on seeing things just as they are. According to Tibetan scriptures, enlightenment requires more than a sitting meditation practice alone. It demands and understanding of philosophical truths and concepts encapsulated in its teachings. You will discover why happiness is the true goal of Tibetan spirituality, how you can achieve it , and the many paths to that destination. Suitable for both new and experienced meditators, the weekend will consist of guided meditations, talks, and time for questions and answers.
One Two-Day Retreat August 15-17
Tuition: Members $165/ Nonmembers $175
